At Duolingo, we’ve always believed that learning should be fun, and fun is way more fun with friends. That’s why our cast of characters play such a big role in guiding learners in the app. But now, we’re bringing the gang out of the app and into the real world.

Meet our new global head of licensing and collaborations

We’re thrilled to announce a major new chapter in the Duolingo story: we’re officially launching a licensing division! And leading the way is industry pro Elena Vrska, who joins us as Global Head of Licensing and Collaborations.

Elena brings more than 15 years of experience at iconic brands like Sanrio, Mattel, and Netflix. She’s helped build some of the world’s most beloved properties, like Hello Kitty, Barbie, Stranger Things, and Squid Game. We can’t wait to see how her creativity and expertise shape the next era of Duolingo.

From fan-favorite characters to fan-first experiences

Our characters have always had big personalities. Now, they’ll have big adventures outside the app, too. With Elena at the helm, we’ll create real-world experiences and products that bring Duo and friends to life in new, delightful ways.

Our Business Development & Partnerships team is renowned for its approach to creating innovative and impactful collaborations with category-leading brands (including Netflix, Discord, Webtoon, Crunchyroll, and more). This initiative promises to significantly expand Duolingo's brand presence beyond its digital platform, as we embark on a path to make Duo as famous as Mickey Mouse, Pikachu, and Super Mario. (Yes, we dream big.)
